Boring book. I tried so very hard to get to the end, but I put it down about 3/4 of the way through since life is too short to waste time on books I don't enjoy. Sarah and Ruith are boring. They are a less cool version of Miach and Morgan. We already know all of the characters in this book, and apparently they also all know each other. None of them want to be royalty. They all pretend to be poor, when really they have the resources to do whatever they want. Also, you can guess the response of every character in every situation. When Ruith finds out his sister is alive, instead of wondering what her life must have been like, he focuses on her dating Miach and immediately decides its his responsibility to tell her she can't. What??!?!?!?!?!?! You've been living on the side of a mountain bro; meanwhile your sister went out and became a master swords woman. But this is a typical response.
Everyone immediately either tries to break Sarah and Ruith up jokingly, or begs to know when they are going to have kids. In the first trilogy, everyone immediately tried to break Miach and Morgan up jokingly, or begged to know when they were going to have kids. Its painful to read again.

A Tapestry of Spells The Nine Kingdoms Book 4 Lynn Kurland 9780425232132 Books Reviews
I really enjoy this author's worked and loved the first three books in the story. My problem with this fourth book is the redundancy of the story line. SPOILER ALERT * Woman meets mage, woman doesn't know man is mage, mage hides that fact from her. Woman finds out she is actually a queen, mage is forced to reveal his true identity, woman is upset man never told her he was a mage, mage/man and woman/queen fight.
It would have been better to come up with a new plot for the 4th book, but the writing is engaging and it's a story you can get lost in.
My review is for the entire trilogy (although only two are out). I won't write a summary, because there are plenty on here. I just wanted to put in my thoughts.
After reading the first trilogy in the Nine Kingdoms books, I was starving for more, so I read the books following Ruith and Sarah's story as fast as I could. I loved them but I kind of felt that it was another Miach and Morgan we were reading about. It doesn't detract from the story for me, but I'm not picky and others might find that it does. The plot is quite a bit different, and the characters are different for the most part, but the romance itself is nearly identical to Miach and Morgan's. Again, I didn't find it lessening my love for the story even a little bit.
It runs parallel to the Princess of the Sword, which I found a bit awkward. It didn't quite fit in as well as it would have had Kurland chosen to write them in serial order. But that was easy to ignore as well in favor of the well-written, fast-paced, and overall excellent storyline. I also love the language they use, and can't help but read the entire thing in an Irish brogue.
If you liked the first three books, these are well worth picking up. My biggest complaint is that I have to wait an entire year for the third to come out now. And I plan on reading the anthologies as soon as possible!
Another thing I bought this book for my , so this review is solely for that format. It had a lot of random typos, but generally that was only in italics (which happened every time Ruith dreamed). I don't know why, because I haven't had this problem in any other book (including the other Lynn Kurland 9 kingdoms ones...just the ones about Ruith and Sarah). Probably my only complaint. I wish I could edit them...
I must start my review by saying I am a big fan of Kurland. I have read everything she has published. I like her writing styles and her characters and even the repetitive things she puts in all her books because I know exactly what to expect from her. I waited till all three books were out in this trilogy before I began it because I knew I would throw a huge temper tantrum if I didn't because she likes to leave you hanging at the end of her Nine Kingdoms books. I liked that this book went side by side with the other 1st book. Brother and sister were just starting there adventures at the same time. I loved when the book spoke of Miach and Morgan those were three of my favorite books of all time and I highly suggest reading them FIRST! It helps these three books make a lot more sense.I love the adventure and the romance and the tension between the characters. I love the magic and the two broken people finding themselves threw there journey and in each other. I LOVE that these books are clean and a very fun read. BUT< I was disappointed it wasn't a little more different from the first three. There are many similarities, but I am just going to enjoy them and not over analyze it! Thank you Kurland!
A Tapestry of Spells from Lynn Kurland's Nine Kingdom series starts a new storyline based on the original three books. The discovery of more survivors from Well of Evil disaster makes the connection interesting, while the new family and their actions intrigues the reader. The overall story of reluctant young magicians (male and female) coming of age at a time of great peril is well thought out, and is done with a different flair than the basic male whining that many of these young adult books seem to focus on. The female lead is a strong character in her own right, and draws the reader further into the story. Note you do not have to read the first series to enjoy this book, but is does help explain the storyline and the relationships between all the characters.
